The Rapture–Jesus Returns

What Are the Five Stages of the Rapture?

Stage One

1 Thessalonians 4: 15-18

“The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout and with the sound of a trumpet” (v. 16). How often have we been on a trip and traveled with great expectations of seeing someone? Can you remember the arrival and how it made you feel to see that person? You approached them with a smile, hug, and probably many words of joy. This verse explains the only way anyone can be raptured. It tells us that only Jesus Christ can be the only one descending from heaven for us. It will not be friends, family, or other loved ones. People cannot rapture others into heaven, churches cannot rapture people into heaven, following doctrine cannot, only trust in Jesus Christ as personal savior.

When Jesus returns to lift us up into His arms it will be with a shout. I like to believe that He will say with a loud voice, “Come home my children.” Here is the translation of this verse from the Greek. “for the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shouted command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first.” As He shouted once for Lazarus (John 11:43) so He will shout again for the decaying and decayed dust of every Christian body that once housed the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 6:19).

Will you hear him calling if His return is today
